CCU Cares

"People Helping People." It's the credit union philosophy.

With CCU's financial support, our staff's volunteer hours, and support from our members, our credit union makes a positive impact in the communities we serve.

Adopt-A-Family 2022

CCU has participated in the Adopt-A-Family Program since 2008 to help families in our communities. With your help, holiday gifts and other items will be donated to families in need.

With the generous donations of our members and staff, we gathered a total of $2,230.00 and were able to provide necessities and holiday gifts for six separate families. Helping out in our community is always important, but this year the need is even greater. Our hearts are full knowing that we are surrounded with so many caring and compassionate people.

Salvation Army Angel Tree

We are proud to report that all 50 of our angels were adopted by CCU staff and their friends. From sleds, to winter hats and just about everything in between, CCU helped brighten the holidays for both children and seniors in the Denver metro area. Thank you to everyone who adopted an angel.

Heartland Hero Ceremonies

Every year local 5th graders participate in the Heartland Hero Essay Contest sponsored by the Jason Dahl Foundation. Students are encouraged to write essays about what it means to be a hero and who is their hero and why. CCU is a proud sponsor of the contest and provides prizes for all students who enter the contest as well as the grand prizes for the essay winners.

This year, because of COVID-19, the award ceremonies look at bit different. The first award ceremony with Shaffer Elementary School students was held via Zoom. Several more ceremonies are taking place in the upcoming weeks. CCU's Brooke Thurlow serves on the board of the Foundation and is helping organize the school ceremonies.

More about the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund: This foundation, located in Littleton, Colorado and run by CCU Board Member, is committed to keeping Jason's memory and dreams alive by working to provide scholarships for young people aspiring to enter the aviation profession.

Jason, who lived in Littleton, was the Captain of United Airlines Flight 93 which was hijacked at 9:28am on September 11, 2001, subsequently crashing at 10:02am in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania instead of its intended target, the US Capitol Building in Washington D.C. Food Bank of the Rockies

Colorado Credit Union staff spent the day volunteering at Food Bank of the Rockies. Together, we unpacked, sorted and created meal boxes for Colorado families in need. With a lot of hard work, we packed up enough food boxes to feed 250,000 people! What impressive teamwork that benefits so many Coloradans in-need!
