Dolores A. Ebner
Dolores A. Ebner and her husband Don, CCU members, share a passion for history. They joined the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society a decade ago when they moved to Ken-Caryl and got a taste of the history that exists in the mountainous terrain that was once a sprawling cattle ranch named after the sons of the ranch owner, John C. Shaffer.
Dolores chaired the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society for 6 years and organized the preservation of the Bradford Perley House, former residence of Major Robert Boyles Bradford. The Bradford Perley House was built in 1859 and is located in Bradford Park on Killdeer Lane on the North Ranch portion of Ken-Caryl Ranch.
The Ebners are the only married couple to have been honored individually for volunteer work in Jefferson County. They were recognized by Colorado historians when Dolores was appointed to the Jefferson County Hall of Fame in 2001 and Don was appointed in 2006.
Dolores has written two books about the history of Ken-Caryl Ranch named, "The Bradford years 1859 - 1876" and "John C. Shaffer", both available at the Ken-Caryl Ranch house. Book sale proceeds are directed to the ongoing preservation efforts of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society whose current project is the restoration of the Ken-Caryl Ranch Ice House.
Dolores is also a published poet and has poems in the Library of Congress. Her past volunteerism includes years of service to PTA and former chairman of the United Way in Jefferson County.
She and Don have five children and two grandchildren. The other family member present at their Ken-Caryl Ranch home is Cody, Pembrooke Welsh Corgi and official greeter.
Tax deductible donations to the Ken-Caryl Ranch Historical Society may be delivered or mailed c/o Ken-Caryl Ranch Foundation, 7676 Continental Divide Rd., Littleton, CO 80127.
